A charge against a man named Piera, of murdering a Chinaman, Wun, at Yamba, broke down. The judge directed the jury to return a verdict of not guilty on the ground that there was no direct evidence that the Chinaman waa actu illy dead. Piera was subsequently found guilty of stealing £4O from the residence of Wuo. The judge in sentencing him to seven years' penal servitude, said no one who bad listened to th" details of the previous case could have any moral doubt i that the prisoner was tho murderer. Melbourne, May 1. 11l accordance with an agreement made in December the whole of the State Ministers, excepting Mr Trenwith, have handed in their resigoations to the Primier, with a view of giving a free hand in reconstructing a Cabinet of five member*. Thw is the first instalment of tho promised Parliamentary reform.
