A PLUCKY RESCUE.
PRE PRESS ASSOGTATIOK. Auckland, A)v il 30. A plucky rescue from drowning vis mads last night: by Constable Millar at Davonporf. Frnderiek Arbern aecidontiiHy walked over the «cd of the wharf. Miller heard his ciiett and threw a- lifebuoy into the water, but Arbero was drowning and did sol catoh it. The constable then took off hiH overcoat and tunio, tied the end of | a rop* to the wharf, and slid down into the water. As he reached the drawning man the htter clutched Miller'* legs and b)th went under together. The constable slipped the rope round Arbe n's t«-dy and hauled himself up to the wharf. He was much exhausted, but managed to pall Arbero on to tha wcarf, Millar cat. not swim himsolf, and if bh had lost hold of (he tope thire is littla doubt but he would hive been drowned.
