The deaths ate announced of Mm Wand, better known as Miss Hettie Howard, a native of Duaedin, and Mr Elijah Wilton, one of Wellington's eldest settlers.

Nearly all the cases set down for hearing in the S M. Court on Monday morning, were settled out of Court. Judgment for plaintiff was recorded in the case H. Goodacre v. B. O'Donnell; claim £7 8s 7d and costs £1 3s 6d Mr Ourrie (for Mr Roy) appeared for plaintiff. Several cases were adjourned.

At Ckristchurch on Monday, Mr O. Gray, one of the Justices of the Police Court, urged the establishment of truant schools for uncontrollable children. It was decided to represent the matter to the Education Board.
