ST. MARY'S, NEW PLYMOUTH.
These was a gwdattendance •{ parishiouers at St. Mary's oa Monday eveaiup, whfn the annual church nuotiogwas held. There was a fair sprinkling; of lailfos amongst thi Dumber. The Vicar, Rev. F. G Irani, oooupied tile choir, and t,he meeting was opened <'ih the usual devotional exercises, after which the minutes of the Ills': annual meeting were r»»d »b4 confirmed. The annual report and balance-shoe* were th»n read and adopted. Mr W. H. Skinner then moved the adoption of tho report of the Sunday School, and in doing so stated that tho> additions to the school buildings wottU be started shortly. TJas report wu adopted. -**& The Vicar nominated Mr Arthur Fookts as vicar's churchwarden for tho current year. Mr Robert Todd was elected parishioners' churchwarden, Mr John Geek having declined re-election. The following gentlemen were then elected to the vestry :—Messrs 8. Smith, S. J. Day, J. Paton, T. Woodard, E. B, Bates, F. P. Oorkill, W. Outfield, H. M. Bannister and Dr. Fookts. Mr P. C. Morton was elected auditor. Mr 0 W. Gjvett asked if the promise made last year, to bring tho question of chanting the Litany befor* the vestry, bad been carried oat. Tho Vicar explained that it had not, but he proposed that it should be at the firs, meeting of the now vestry. Ho proposed toh ive the Litany chanted at t'.e choir festival service.
Som* discussion ensued op a sag X*** tion tea' tli > vicarage should be connected wi'h tho telephone system, but it was decided to leave the matter in abeyanoe. On Mr Skinner's motion a resolution of sympathy with Mr F. L. Wobiter U his illness was passed, with an expretsiou of the hope that he would speedily be restored to health. Regret was expressed at the abeeaoo of Beveral old parishioner* from the) meeting. A resolution expressing thankful—l and gratitude to the Almighty that the Venerable Archdeacon Govettwat still spared to remaia in the midst of the congregation was also carried. The meeting closed with the Beatdiction.
