WINTER CONCERTS.

The first of the series of winter concerts organised by Mes«rs McKiunoa Bain and J. 0. Morey was held at Wai'ara on Thursday, when the St. Jobn's Hali was comfortably filled by an appreciative audience.

The Garrison Band went out by 'bu*, .several other New Plymouth people jalso taking advantage of the trip. The band got out when near Waitara, and marched into the town playing a suitable air.

Tbe programme was made up of saveral items by the band (including thG selections performed at the recent contest), and cornet and bass solos by mmbers, while assistance was rendered by Mr J. W. Ryan and other VCCdlifits.

Altogether the entartainraent was a great success, high encomiums heing passed on the programme by everyone present,
