RAID ON OPIUM DENS.
I*HR PRIM ASSOCIATION Dunidin, April 22. Chief Detective Campbell, and Directives Kannady and Hill, made a raid to-day on some of the Chinese opium dens, and succeeded in getting, ■ a all, about £2O worth of opium. The first place visited was in Stafford- street, kopt by Tom Quain, where fire men were found smoking and a considerable quantity of opium wa<) found. Pun Lun's house, close by, was then visited, and there two men were found smoking and opium unearthed. On going to the house of Jos Duck, in Walker' street, two men were found smoking, but the raid had evidently been beard of and the opium carefully concealed.
