They may fc# either sawn or hewn, but must be truly rectangular in shave and out of winding, *awn square at ends, and the hewn sleepers must be neatly dressed. They must be cut from large trees (no honeycombed or burnt timber will be accepted), to be stacked as directed, and to be approved aad passed by the Railway Inspector. Sleepers will be inspected in the bush if so required by ihe suppliers, but no Inspactor will be sent to pass a less number than 250.
Oa receiving notice of sleepers being ready for inspection, the District Engineer, Wanganui, will aetid an Inspector to pass and brand them. After the sUepers have been inspected and branded the supplier must deliver them at the railway station or siding at which he offered to supply; after such delivery has been made the Inpector will give f.h's supplier his certificate, and for such as h«vo passed inspection payment will bs made within fourteen days, or aw near as may be, of the Inspector's certificate having beou given. i Twenty-five per cent, of the n <irabor under-1 taken to be supplied, to be delivered by the en"* of Mav, 1902, fifty per cent. th« end of July, 1902, and the whole by the 31st uct'ber, 1902.
