OPENING A LODGE AT OKATO. A very successful meeting was held at Oka to on the evening of Thursday, April 17th, the occasion being the opening of a lodge in connection "»ith the 1.0. G.T. Mr H. G. Vine, S.D.G.C.T., of Waoganui, was instituting officei, and prior to the opening of the lodge delivered a short address to the general public outlining the formation of the Order some 50 yaars ago, and giving those present soma idea of the principles underlying its work, cob- | eluding by earnestly inviting those present to remain and assist in forming the local lodga, In response to this invitation some 21 names were handed in; the public meeting was closed, and the work of instituting ibe lodge proceeded with.
It was resolved that the lodge should bo known as the Pride of Egmont Lodg®. Mr J. M. Turner was recommended for Lodge Deputy, Mr T. P, Hughson as Electoral Deputy, and Mr Roebuck as Superintendent of Juvenile Templar. The other officers were elected is follows : P.C.T., Bro. Whita; C.T., Bro. Forbes; V.T., Sis. Browniog, sen. ; secretary, Sis, G. I Browning; treasurer, Bro. Hall; F.S., Sis. Wil. on ; chupluin, Sis. Fro:,well; maishal, Sis. Taylor. It was decided to meet in the schoolbouse on Monday evenings for the present. .Refreshments in abuadance, which were heartily appreciated, were handed! round by tho ladies, and the lodge closed with the usual coremony. j
On Friday evening the officers of tuo newly-institucod lod;.'e met Bro. Vine, who explained more fuily to them the working of tho and instructed each of the officers in their spscial duties.
