A conference of representatives of all parts of the Sate, the outcome of the widespread movements for Parliamentaiy reform, adopted resolutions condemning tbe extravagant cost of the State and Federal Parliaments, tbe increase in public expenditure and debt, and demanding a > eduction of the number of membpra in the State Ministry to five, Assembly to forty six, and Legislative Council to twentythree, wit.i a one-third reduction in their salarie.', eubjtnntial r duction in expenditure on public debts to within the bounds o f the earning power of the piople, cessation of borrowing excepting for absolutely reproductive works, and consolidation of loans. Received 18, 0.55 a.m. Melbourne, April 17. The Tariff Committee has added chaff and compressed fodder to the list of exemptions, and inserted a new excise item of Id per lb on s'arch.
