A pilos engine preceded the armoured train which iscored 'he funeral train. There was an exoraordiaary display of popular love and respect all the way. Hundreds traveled long distances to witness the ceremony. All post and blockhouses were furnished with guards of honour, who presented arms. All business was suspended and the building* wei'e diapod. Kipling's el gy eulogising Rhodes' greatness of soul was re id at the grave.
