THE MAIL SERVICE.
At a meeting of the Birkenhead Borough Council on March 26th the following mo'ion was adopted on the motion of the Mayor (Mr o. H. Witheford, M.H.R.): " That; tha Cauncil desires to call the attention cf the Go- ! varnment to the proposed breakdown 'in the daily steam wd-vice b»'ween ' Oaehungi and N-iw Plymouth, and J having reg;irdj to the I of the Main Trunk railway to Weiliog-j I ton, respectfully suggest that the ser-j vico bo Bubs : di«ed, or odo of the Government ste.m !.■; p'nwd to run the] suspended trips." Mr Taylor, wbol seconded the motion, that the Government subsidised the service be two™ Wellington and Lyttsltan. Auckland Herald. •
