Mr Hannan having alleged thw Council bad done uunec«*itarr»<*k, Mr Baume persisted that Mr Htnna» should indicatfi the particular item, Mr Hai nan, after a warm interchange, sud, 44 Well, anyhow, lam t t Jndaa; I don't come to the Council and gpt what belongs to another man for ay friends." Mr Baume challenged Mr Hainan to explain fully, ottwrwiw be remarked, "I sha'l brand you ea * enward and liar." Mr Hannan remarked, " You have used this Council and tbe city solicitor to get what belongs to another man for your friend*" Mr Biuma: " You are a liar if yon want it straight." Mr Hacaan aaked that Mr Baume be called upon to withdraw, but tbe Mayor declined to allow further discussion on tha subject, and other business waa proceeded with.
