Hill (apply a teacber without delay. Miss Bain wes appointed to Durham road school, and Miss Simpson as assistant mistress at Opunake. The Toko's committee's request to be -allowed to kold their annual meeting in the public hall instead of the school was agreed to. Tbe Education Department wrote asking ths Board to advise as to qualifications of any teacher offering for South Africa.—The matter was referred to the chairman and Mr Allsworth. The Education Department advised that present arrangements at the West Infants! School may continue until the Board has organised matters properly. —Referred to the Teachers' Selection Committee to report upon. The Ttachers' Selection Committee made the following recommendations for appoint ments:—Assistant mistress, i Central School, Misses Macintosh, D 4; Black E3; Hepworth, E4; Brunton, E2. Assistant-master, Central School, C. W. Field, B.A. and B4 ; Joseph Thomas, p»rt D. Assistant-master, Stratford, 0. W. Field, B.A. and B4; Joseph 'Thomas, part D. Frankleyroad, Mis- Black E3. Waiongona, Mits W. J. Aitkin, D2. Huiakama, Miss M. A. Balfour, D2; Miss M. Warwick, D2; Joseph Thomas, part D; S. M. Scot', D. Pukearuhe, M. D. Lamplugh. The Ranger's report on school sites was read.—Mr Kennedy was deputed to inquire re Kahouri site. Mr Matkay submitted a lengthy report on the Taibore-road and Man-gaehu-road school sites question. He recommended that the school be built onthe proposed site at Msngaehu. Some discussion ensued. Mr Allsworth advocated the erection of a temporary school on Taihore-ro&d. A resolution that a school ha built, at Mangaebu, on section 28, block 3, j Omona, was carried by 5 votes to 2,j Messrs Allsworih and Kennedy oppos- j ing.
The Rugby-road settlers petitioned for the erection of * small schoel in their,district.—The request cannot be granted at present. The Kohuratahi settlers made a similar application. - Keferrei hack, the secretary to Reapply inform./im regarding a petition. Accounts were passed and the Beard! adjourned. j
