Department appears to have deemed. is advisable to take the saftst comae,, and had the passenger removed to the, plague hospital, where ber was also taken. The patient is ft. j_ through traveller fram England. Except for cases of fever, the present is the first that has been taken to theplague hospital. The case not having; been finally diagnosed, a oerteis> amount of reticence is being observed.. The department has had the steamer fumigated, and taken all other precautionary measures deemed necessary. Match 23. The chief Hetlth Officer this afternoun said that no information regarding the patient ceuld be given until tomorrow.
