Melboobhk, March 20, The Pacific Cable Board has informed Ifr Barton that it is intended to pay •off the loan money required to ssart the cable in determinible annuities «pread oyer fifty years. It is hoped -that the receipts will be sufficient to meet working expenses aod interest. Each year a balance sheet will be submitted to the Imperial Parliament, and the various States will be noticed i how the stand. It is net expeoted that any payments will be asked from tho Australian States until after *ht beginning of the next financial; year.
Joseph Ward, PostmasterGeneral, is expected topics through Plymouth in a few days' time on his way north to be present at the formal landing of the New Zealand ®nd of the cable at Doubtless Bay. This,bay is on the east coast, about 180 aules north of Auckland city. There is at present a telegraph station at Mtngonui, on the shores of the inlet,
