LAND BOARD.
The Board met on Tuesday. Present: Tbe Commissioner (Mr James Mackenzie) in the chair, Messrs Heslop, Kitten bury, and Connett. The following applications for land were approved : —J, 0. Eastwood, section 3, block 4, Mimi, 118 acres, 0.r.p.; G, S. Morton, section 17, block 7, | Cape, 177 acres, o.r.p. ; T. Horlihy, I section 3, block 8, Mimi, 114 acres, | Up.
An application by J. Russell to exchange section 100, Tokaora, for section 90 was considered. The Minister f >r Lands having approved of the alternative the Board also agreed, on condition that the applicant give up section 100 at once and forego any claim for improvements, An application from J. W. Batten for section 92, Tokaora, was approved. The Sanger reported having resumed possesiion of section 93, Tokaora, surrendered by A. F. Chapman. It was decided to offer the land for selection in the usual way; meantime Mr Bear will be allowed to graza the property. | The following applications to transfer were agreed to: —J. Oarmichael, jun., to J. Caroaichael, sen., half interest in section 1, block 2, Opaku; F. McPheeco 0. McPbee, sections 17, 18, block 16, Ngatimaru; Adam Biesett to Alex. Bisse't, hilf interest in section 5, block 8, Hawera; G. Tayler to G. W. Tayler, small grazing run 11, Opaku,
An application by L. Shaare to
transfer sections 1, 4, block 8, Nga'.imarti, was referred to the ranger, as also was that of A. H. Wakeford to transfer section 5, block 3, Ngatimaru, to G. W. Luke. Annie Rawstron applied for leave to divide sections 12 aud 13, blook 3, Omona, and to transfer the portion north of the proposed Mangaehu-road deviation to Thomas Co:k, and the bilance to Wm. McLachlan. The application to transfer to McLachlan was referred to the ranger, and the transfer to Cook was agreed to in terms of section 12 of the Land Act Amend-
ment Act, 1895. The Ringer reported on the drainage of sections 23, 24, block 11, Ngaire, and the application of J. W, Espin to transfer the sectisn to E. Perrott was I agreed to. G. E. Burton appealed against the Board's refusal to grant a transfer of half interest in section 6, blook 2, Upper Waitara, to G. M. Orawford. The Board decided that in the special circumstances of the casfl the appeal be upheld, on condition th;%t the wholo section be transferred to Mrs Orawford. A similar appeal was received from, E. O. B*st in respect to the transfer of section 7, block 2, Upper Waitara, to Jeremiah Wilson, and consideration was deferred till next meeting. Several applications for permission to mortgage were dealt with.
Ths Commissioner reported that the following Improved Farm settlors were j entitled to leases, which will be issued to them:—Wta. Hallett, sections 99, 101, block 10, Pouatu; Jas Rodger#, section 108, block 11, Pouatu. A plan and schedules of sections in blocks 13, 14, Waro, and block 3, Pouatu, surveyed by Mr Sladden, were laid on the table. It was resolved that jail the sections ba withheld from sale at present, in consideration of the fact that there is valuable milling timber on nearly all of them ; and that the questian of values be postponed until road access is provided. P. Darke wrote asking that something be dona to improve access to section 4, block 10, Upper Waitara, by the Okoke-road, or ho would be compelled to give up the land. The matter was left with the Commissioner to deal with.
j The license of T. H. A. Yalintine, of sections 3, 4, 5, block 15, Upper | AVaitfir.i, was declared void. 11 The Ranger reported having resumed , of section 7, block 13, Upper ;■ Waitara. The section will be reopened : for selection, under Part 111. of the j Lmd Act, 1492. ,j Toa application of John Buckley, to ; ibe allowed to grant timber and tiam- , jway rights over section 1, block 11, ■; Egmont, tj the New Plymouth Sash, | and Door Company was agreed to, ! subject to the usual conditions. : It was resolved to re-ofler section , j 100, Tokaora, forthwith, together with , \ section 93. i ] The Board then adjourned.
