Mokan. whose arrival in the roadstead we reported in our last issue, was inspected by the health officer, Dr. Home, and after being fumigated, came alongside the wharf en Saturday morning. From Mr. Cuilem. the mate in charge, we learn the following particulars. The vessel made several trips between Sydney and Newcastle with coal. The whole of her machinery, etc., being thoroughly tested and her ■uitabil ty as a co'lier proved satisfactory, gbe finally left Newcastle for New Plymouth on Thursday, March 6th, at 1.30 p.m., with nearly 103- tons of coal, exclusivo of her bunker supply of 30 tons, and a lot of rails and machinery for the mines. She experienced fine weather with light south-east and east south east, till Thursdav, March 13tb, when the wind changed to south, blowing hard, with vfry heavy sea- Sighted Oape Bgmont light at 4 a.m. on Friday. 14tb, and arrived off the Breakwater at 10a.m suae day were detained in theriadstead for inspection by the health officer, who, after having her thoroughly fumigated, gave her a clean bill of health, and she mace fast to the wharf at 8 a m. on Saturday. Her officers aie Captain Holtz, mate, Mr. Onllen, engineer, Mr. Copeland. On the ship's arrival Capt. Holts handed her over to Captain Jonas and returns to Sydney. We have already given a description of her in a previous issue, and need only add that she is of the tramp a almbi of steamers, having enormous hatchways and exceptional faciliites for quick 1 discharge, f-he can carry nearly 200 tons of coal when full op.
