The Daily News. FMIDAY, MARCH 14, 1902. THE LATE RAILWAY FATALITY.
late railway Thomas Nybane lost his life, we are glad to notice that the matter of providing for the widow and family of the ■ deeeassd is being taken up with commendable energy. The deceased left a widow and six children, and naturally { from his position and being a comparatively young man, he had very little opportunity of making suitable provision for them The loss of the breed-winner of the family in such a painfully sudden manner is a cruel blow to the bereaved famliy, and if the blow can be lightened by relieving them of financial worry, it should b? done. It is greatly to the credit of the members of the splendid bands visitiDg the town that they have kindly consented to take part in an open air concert in the Recreation Ground this afternoon in aid of a fund for this purpose. It speaks volumes for the kindly feelings which actuate them, many of them total strangers to the town, that they are willing to devote a portion of their time to this pur - pose just now, when every moment is valuable to them in preparing for the final test of the contest. We trust the public will respond in a like manner, so that suitable provision may be made for this unfortunate family. His Worship the Mayor, at the request of a large number of townspeople, is inviting the business people of the town to join bim in closing their shops for a couple of hours this aflernoon while the concert is on. The Town Band also has promised to give its valuable assistance, and will play a number of selections at the concert. The combined bands will repeat " Hearts and Hoooes," and as this is the last tima the public will have an opportunity of bearing the massed bands, they, should take advantage of it, especially as by j so doing they will be helping a gcod I cause.
