A little eirl, aged four years, daughter of W. Bigbam, Manaia, was playing with matches yesterday when her clothes caught fire. She was severely burnt, and died during the night. 8 Wanoanui, Match 12. A body found in the river close to tbo town bridge this morning was identified as William Smith, otherwise known as " Buffalo BUI," a saddler, and a prohibited parson. He lately came out of gaol on a charge of drunkenaaaa, Wellington, March 12 "William McMillan, a labourer, aged 52 years, employed at the Government railway stores, died suddenly to-day. Medical evidence at the inquest shoved that his demise was due to hemorrhage on the brain. Nelson, March 12. A girl named Jessie Robson, aged 13, was drowned in the Upper Waingapeka river on Sunday. She had been' sent down the valley for mails, and on not returning her father went in search. He found htr horse on the river bank near the crossing and the girl's body in the river some cbains down the stream. At the inquest a verdict of accidental death was returned. Gisborne, March 12. Percival Barker, a leading pistoralist, died to day. Hs was found unconscious, evidently having been thrown from his horse near the homestead. George Moore, aged 58, a colonist of 40 years standing, and formerly of Otago, died to-day.
