PUB PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Hokitika, March 10. The Fire Brigades' OonfereoM opened this morning, the president, Mr Baker, being in the chair. The Mayor, on behalf of the citiaen*, welcomed the delegates. The report showed that 78 brigade* were now affiliated, and stated Wat it was the intuition to hold an exbibitioa of fire brigade appliances, and ask outside mar.ufuc ur s the condition* on which they would exhibit. The ritual as presented was adopted with slight amendments. Several matters of detail were discussed, and the conference adjourned till Wednesday morning. Subsequently the delegates were entertained at asmoke eoccrt, at which tbe Mayor presided, there being a large attendance of the pnWio at the function, whioh was very soocessful. The delegatee will be taken to Lake Mahinapua to-morrow for M aquatic picnic.
