ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

A drowoing fatality ooourred near Qeraldine this morning, the Geraldin*Oiari coach capsizing into tha Waihi river at a c:ossii g known •• Maokeiizie.; Mrs Scott, of Woodfcqry, was drowned, algo'a child about 18 months old, named Pizzey, whose parents re. side at Lytt*lten. The other passengers were saved, though several narrowly escaped with their live*. Every precaution was taken by G. Seott, the driver r.f the coach, who first crossed the river him»elf, then came buck and took the lady pavengera and one man. The river was flooded, and the mi-ihap was ravred through a horse stumbling and falling in tha river, drawing its mate down with it. The body of Mrs Scott has been recovered, but thai of the child ha* not yet been found. As the mail (rain was approaching New Plymouth on Saturday evening, a mau was observed to jump from en* of the ciniige platforms, jus's on the Fitzroy side of the Waiwakaiho river. The guard was informed of 'he fact, but the train had then travelled soma distance, and it was cot considf red ad. visable to go back. The incident was reported on the arrival of the train at New Plymouth, and Constables Buttif. more and Russell proceeded to th* spot. They searched the line for soma distance but no tign was seen of the mu>, and it is presumed he got safely away. There is do clue to hi* identity. An accident occurred at the breakwater on Saturday, by which a man named Henry Dock had three ribs brokon. He was at work loading pips on to the Tak«puna, wheu he was knockei down by some of the pipes rolling. D<\ Fookes attended the sufferer, who was afterwards removed to the hospital.
