ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
PER PBBSS ASSOCIATION. Gisborne, February 27. A man named George Wild is missing. On Sunday bis boat capsized io the surf, and last evening ha went to relaunch it, but the man and boat have not si boo been seen, A seareh party is out. Wahgahui, February 27. A fatal riding aecident occurred at Springvale yesterday afternoon, when a well-known Eettler named James Barnes was thrown from his horse and lolled. Napier February 27, A drowning fatality occurred here this afternoon. A lad n>med Crowther about seven years el age, son «f Mr 8. Crowther, coach proprietor, who was bathing in the surf with some com pinions, wag carried out to sea, and nheyouthß being unable to help him, it V&s some little time before assistance could be obtained, and when the little fellow was finally brought ashore by Constable Oliphant, life was extinct. The spot where the accident took place *was a considerable distance from the bathing tents. Yesterday, owing to a heavy ground swell, there was a narrow escape from drowning near the tent«, but the timely assistance of several adult swimmere prevented a catastrophe,
