Drummond, Highlaaders 23^ Tha chief interest centred round Atkinsqn, Okey, and Winslade, one of whom was looked upon as certain to fill tbe coveted position, Atkinson made 38, hh score being 4435343345, Okey made 32, so was out of the running for first place, Winslade began firing after Atkinson and Okey had finished, and an eager little crowd gathered in the vicinity. H>s sighting shots were a magpie and an outer. Then his shots were 353555453. At this point he was on a level with Atkinson for first place, and only needed to find the target in order to win. This he easily did, bis last shot being a 4. He thus won by 4 points, and was heartily applauded for his achievement, —Chronicle. A parade of the Rifles, Guards, and Battalion Band is ordered for to-night. The Non-Commissioned Officers Olub will meet on Wednesday evening at 7.30 sharp, when the subject to be considered will ba outpost work, Lieutenant Cook acting as instructor. Captain L, M. Taunton, Guards, has been appointed Adjutant »f the Fourth (Tarapaki) Battalion, Wellington Rifle Volunteers. Captain J, P. Watt, of No, I Bat* taliqn, Wellington (West Coast) Mounted Rifles, is gaaitted adjutant, with the rank of Captain, Lieutenant E. R. Morgan, Alexandra Mountad Rifles, has bean appointed Paymaster and Quartermaster to the battalion. The Rev. R. Hermon is gazetted Honorary Chaplain.
