SCHOOL COMMISSIONERS.
- The Taranaki Board of School Commissions met on Friday. Present: Messrs E. Oook (chairman), Wade, Alliworth and Faull. The Secretary reported that he had written to T. Miils with reference to his lease, but the letter had been re- | turned from the Post: Office marked "refused." Is was resolved that the chairman be empowarad to take such steps in the esse as he is advised are I necessary. The Secretary reported that he had, with the Chief Surveyor, gone fully; into the matter of the Bertrand-road • deviation. Mr F. Andrews (lessee of sections 1 and 5, Huirangi Town Belt) was williDg to surrender his interest in ■ the parts required for the deviation.— | i A iinil resolution wag pas-red granting 1 j the l«nd required, in exchange for a ! po'tion of the Black-roid southward of ' the Bartriind-road deviation, subjeco to ' co ts of fencing, etc., being pud. jacemt to her freehold property. The Ranger's report on various reserves leased to settlers was read, dealing particularly with the ragwort p°st. Several were not making such headway against the weed as was desired.— It was resolved that the secretary communicate with the tenants on the matter. The chairman was authorised to visit certain properties at Stwtford lately le ised by Hill, at?d report to the Board aB to their suitableness for subdivision. It was decided tfcat Mr Courtney ba required forthwith tt> put in order all lands held by him from the Boird. The chnirman and secretary were appointed a committee to arrange upset pi ices of land for leising by the Board, and report to a meeting on 28th February. ; The Treasurer reported a balance of £IOO7 lis 9d. The annual statement ef accounts was laid on the table. New leasts were granted to G. E. Dinoisp, of sections 520 and 521, New Plymouth, and to W. G. Bsale, for sections 443 and 469 Nnw Plymouth. Applications to transfer leases were granted as follows, all conditions heing attended to: —C. W. Govett to E. B. Kiogdon, section 332, New Plymouth ; S. J. Allen to F. P. Oorkill, section 2, j block 12, Waitara An application from Twiggand Company to transfer section 35, block 10, Ngaire, to G. J, Willy was refused. A letter from Mrs S. Gray ve her tenure of parts K and C, Town Belt, New Plymouth, was referred to ths chairman. Accounts amounting to £ls 6s lOd were paes-d for piymoat, and the Board adjourned
