Great Britain's demand that the import duty on sugar be reduced onehalf under penalty of reprisals by the| United Kirgdom, the colonies and India, tus alarmed the Auitrian and German traders, who unanimously recommended resistance of any change in ' __ the bounties or the customs. The ~ Sugar Conference hat adjourned to enable the German and Austrian delegates to confer with their Governments.
