FIRES.
PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Thames, January 23. Gibbons's sawmi 1 has been destroyed by fire, but the s'ock of sawn timber was saved. The mill was valued at £4OOO, and the only insurance was £1250 in the North Queensland. The nightwatchmau was sick, and no one was on duty. The yard foreman saw a glare of fire which had then a good hold. The wind was blowing awav from tho large timber s'asks, and £SOOO worth of timber w»s saved. The fire was caused by eparks from a furnace. Welltxqton, January 28. j The residence o? Mr J. o'Sullivan,' Defence storekeeper was gutfd by fire early this moroing. The buildiug, which is the property of the Government, was unoccupied at the time, the family being away. The contents were not insured. Tho place was insured for £2OO in tho Natioaal Company.
