The actual facts ef the abandonment will rot be. known till the arrival of the Abergeldie with the crew, but the captain of the steamer Woolowra, | which arrivfd to-day, supp'ies a pro-J bable explanation. After lea ing Mel-1 bourdo tha Woolowra encountered a fierce and sudden storm. The Patrick,! which was then in the vicinity of Wilson's Promontary, was evidently caught napping and driven into a dangerous posi'i'n. Shn was Feen to be abandoned. All pails were set, bit most of •hem were in ribbons. The Pat'ick was going to Newcastle to load coal for South America, in charge of Captain Gulloway.
