THE DEATH OF LIEUTENANT RUSSELL.

Wellington, January 12. The following cable has been received by the Premier in answer to his inquiries touching the death of Captain Russell's son:—" Lieutenant Russell was twice wounded while leading 25 men against a vastly superior force of t the enemy on December 19th. He died from the wounds the next day."
