I T sales, B buyers, S sellers. j The share market for investment stoolcs' has opened quietly, but firm, and there have been few transactions. B»nk of New Zeal»nd have .declined somewhat,, buyers offer-; ing 455, whilese'lers hold for4"s In insurance shares prices remain at the same level. The N.Z. Insurance Company ' has had a record year for premium income, j but netprofits are lower than last year. An increased dividend of % per cent, is paid. It is doubtful, however, whether any of the TnsuranceCompanies doing business in New | Zealand have made any profit on their New Zealand business owing to the large number of fires. The gold output for the cnlony for the past yeariß a record for over thirty years, but as far as Auckland is concerned is chiefly due ! to the Waihi output. Dredging is respon-1 sible for the increase from the South and I the New Year opens very hopefully as the ! weather conditions in the dredging districts | point to a much more favourable season than I the last, which was one of the wettest on' record, the Molyneux and West Coast rivers i being at a more or less high level for many | months. Several of the proved and favour-, ite stooks have seen numerous transactions at advances on prices quoted before the holidays, and as all the dredge? have been' overhauled during the recess, with favour- < able weather returns should be goed and' J regular. j
