PBR PRSraa ASSOCIATION Received 5, 5 p ra. Sydney, January 5. With reference to tiie cable suggesting the granting to France the concession of the New Hebrides with a view to settling the Newfoundland French shore question, Mr Barton has requested Lord Hopetoun to inform Mr Chamberlain that public opinion in Australia has undergone no change, and the Commonwealth Government has the gravest objections to any weakening of tbe British hold on the New Hebrides. Mr Barton states he has no fear tha? the British Government has taken any steps, but he wished to strengthen Mr Chamberlain's hands.
