The Kev Mr and Mrs Nixon were present from town, and excellent tea was provide;! by the ladies of the congregation. Various amueements were indulged in during the day such as rounders, racing, and jumping, which brought a most enjoyable day's outing to a close. At Wellington yesterday, George Stjles wag charged at the Magistrates Court with shooting at his daughter, and was remanded for a week. The Hon &. Caldwell, a member of the South Australian Legislature, is on a visit to New Zealand, and is staying a fen days in New Plymouth. Zealand record of 913 for seven shots at three ranges. The first coin of the gold issue bearing the King's effigy was struck at the Sydney Mint yesterday. While geing through the French Pass about 4 a.m. yesterday, the steamer Mapou rika swerved and struck the beacon with her bow.
