INVERCARGILL RAILWAY FATALITY.

INQUEST ON Tfflt VICTIM. PKK PRESS ABBOCIATIOS. Inyebcabgill, Dec mber 12. The inquest on Frank Thomas, platelayer, who was killed in a collision between a railway tricycle and a train, wss advanced a stage to-day. Dr. Bogere, who attended Fraser, said be detected no sign of drink on him or on the deceased. Lawrence Eraser's evidence was taken at the hospital. He said he was a ganger and got notice cf a special train. He Ift Wrodlands to inspect his length at 9 p.m. He went south to Longbosh. Coming back he picked up Thomas and went north to Morton Mains, which he reached at 10.5 p.m. Then he s r t ont to return to Woodlands, travelling about five or six miles an hour. Witness had a red lamp in his left hand. He kppt a sharp look out, and s'on af--t>r turning he thought he saw a light at Fourteen curve, or about two miles away. Thomas looked and said he could see nothing and that witness must be mistaken. Witnefs said that if it was a train they would tee it as it .came into the straight on which they were running, but he saw no light whatever. The engine seemed to rush up in front of them and he could see no light on it. This was. after travelling about a quarter of a mile after he had supposed he b id seen . the train light. The inquest was resumed to-day, and further adjourned till to-morrow. Tbe jury went out to-night by special train to view the scene of the accident.
