The Wellington City Water Inspector has resigned because the Council has disregarded his protest against the enormous waste of water through defective cisterns. The new issue of coinage will include £5 and £2 pieces. In the Wellington Supreme Oonrfc < n Thursday Leonard Pocock, for forcing a telegram, was sentenced to two years' hard labour, and William Draper for breaking and entering, was admitted to probation fqr two years.

The Mayor of Stratford yesterday received a tjlegram from the Hon. W. Hall-Jones to the effect that it is impossible to open the Toko line iie'ore Christmas, but that the . official opening will in all probability take place about the middle of January.
