BOWLING.
Tub Northern Association has issued the programme of the inter-club tournament, to be held at Wellington during the week commencing Monday, January 20th, 1902. The local club hag not yet decided as to whether or not it will be represented on the occa-. sion. Spfcial train and steamer fares have been arranged, the former being at excursion rate*, and the latter at a reduction of 20 per cent. Following on the Wellington tournnment is a three-days' meeting at Nelson, to which the local club has received an invitation.
The proposal emanating from the Northern Association and discussed at the last annual meeting of the New Plymouth Club relative to the issue of a handbook of views of greens and containing information about the various clubs has met with unanimous approval, and steps are now being taken to carry \ out the project. J Local bowlers are looking forward |with very great pleasure to Thursday! I afternoon, when a fitting welcome will jbe accorded to Mr James Paul on his i return home. The green will have a gay and festive appearance ; the Town Band will be present to enliven the proceedings with music, and afternoon tea will be provided by the ladies. As a cordial invitation is extended to friends the green should be thronged, as the number of those who wish to welcome back the popular president of the club is legion. It is to be hoped that the weather will be propitious.
As the first round of the club matches has to be finished by Saturday, the 14 th inst,, players have kept the green lively Ittety.
