The buildiug was insured in the Norwich Union for £1520, and Baker's stock for £SOO in North British. Napibb, December 7. The residence of John Marshall at Petane was totally destroyed by fire. Nothing was saved. Insurance was £650 in South British and the Fjrmer's Co-operative. Wanganui, December 8. A fire occur; ed shortly before seven this morning in a building on Taupo Quay, owned by Mrs Donald Ross, and occupied by H. T. Johns, builder. The building was gutted, hut the contents were saved. The Herald publishing room was destroyed, and the machine room was only saved by a brick wall. A fishmonger who lived in an adjoining building had all his nets destroyed, and 40 fowls roasted. The stables belonging to Thompson Lewis and Company, and Tucker Brothers, butchers, were scorched, but the horses were uninjured. Insurance on the building guted is £3OO in the Commercial Union; other insurances are not I available.
