PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. Sydney, December 6. Soma of tho employees of Hordern's Retford Park Estat") have been arrested on a charge of stealing valuable stock. Eleven additional persons, including some well-known farmers in the district, were also arrested on a charge of being accessories before the fact. The stock is valued at £I2OO, ; but £IOOO worth has been recovered. Melbourne, Dfcember 5.
The Federal Post and Telegraph Rates Bill provides for sixpenny telegrams in towns and suburbs, ninepence to oth'r portions of a State, and a shilling for inter S-ate. Press rates are unaltered. postage is ha'f penny for eight ounces. At the resumed meeting of the Chillagoe Company, the chairman pointed out that it s?emed to be 'he opinion that the directors were bound to pro vide £50,000 to save their reputations. Mr Moore was < vide'itly dissatisfied with the progress made with some legal business, a> d it is supposed he asked Mr Atkinron, !he managing clerk, for the return of certain document?, which was refund in tho absence of bis employer. Rapid firing of a revolver followed, and a clerk rushed iu and found Mr Atkinson shot twice above the abdomen. Moore afterwards shot himself in the breis% and died on tbe way to the hospital.
