FRISCO MAIL SERVICE.
PBR PRESS ASSOCIATION. Auckland. December 4. Mr Dunett, representative of tbe Oceanic Company, has received a letter bom Ur Sprockets in reference to the proposals of New Zealand for an eighteen month*' contract. Mr Sprockets considers the ofler altogether inadequate. There are also conditions in the proposed contiect at variance with j the United States' contract, under which the Oceanic Company draws a large subsidy. These preclude tbe acceptance of the contract in its present form. Mr Dunett says the terms are not good en iugh to induce Mr Sprcckels to tie his company up, atad it is probable he will negotiate with the Federal Government wih a view to including Brisbane instead of Auckland as first port of call. Meanwhile the service will probably be carried on as usual. | Dunsdih, December 4. j The Postmaster- General thinks the| Sprtckels Company will continue tbe. 'Frisco service despite the published statememt to the contrary. The Gover- j meet has eo power to vary the con-j dittoes sanctioned by Parliament.
