TEACHERS' INSTITUTE.
The annual meeting of the Taranaki Branch of the New Zealand Educational Institute was hold in the Central School on Saturday afternoon. The balance-sheet for the past year | showed a credit balance of £7 9s. It | was announced that the membership 'had increased to 41, and a hope was I expressed that during tho coming year' t'ne membership would be still higher. The following officers were elected: —; President, Mr. Grant; vice-presi Jents, Miss El wards and Mr. Johnson; secretaty and treasurer, Mr. Gray; auditor, Mr. Potts; executive committee, Mrs. Dowling and Messre, Dempsey and Penlington, Mr. Johnson was elected to act as delegato at the general Institute meeting to be held in New Plymouth in January nest. A hearty vot9 of thanks was passed , to the Education Board for use of room in which to hold meetings. , A vote of thanks to the retiring i officers brought the meeting to a close.
