ACCIDENT TO A STEAMER.

(PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington, November 29,

The steamer Kotuku, bound from Westport to Lyttelton, coal laden, put into port this evening, having met with a mishap off Jacksous Head. It appears that while the steamer was taking the passage between Walker's lock and the beacon off the head, she was carried by the strong spring tide bodily on to the rock, striking slightly amidship. Her oirgo is being discharged here, and sbe will be takeu on to the patent slip in the morning for inspection. The steamer is making water, but almost imperceptibly.
