ENGLAND v. NEW SOUTH WALES. "CORNSTALKS" WIN BY 53 RUNS. I , PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. i Received 27, 5.42 p m. Sydney, November 27. The weather was beautifully cool, but the wicket was fiery and I crumbling a little. The EnglishI men began badly, Clarke getting Jones and Jessop out without their »dding to the score. Lilley partnered Tyldesley, and bath altered the complexion of tbe game. They bit out all round, pliying Clarke freely, Lilley making some fine sorokea, and hitting three fourers off Clarke in succession. Tydltsley at 46 gave a difficult chance in the slips, which Clarke was not quick enough to take. Lilley saved his life a little later at Howell's hands. A change of bowling to Trumper and' Hopkins proved expensive, and Howell and Clarke came on again later, and with the first ball tempted Tydlesley, who skied one to Trumper at mid-off. Tbe partnership had added 89 to the score. Braund joined Lilley. After lunch Lilley had scored five when Trumper came on in place of Clarke. Lilley lifted one back to Trumper in his second over. Gunn followed, and had a brief and inglorious innings. He poked feebly at one from Howell, which scattered his wicket. Braund was playing soundly. Barnes, the last man, knocked up thirteen when Howell got his wicket. England.—Second Innings. (Continued.)
