In the Fall Court of Judgment, in the case of a man charged with stealing a letter, wherein the point taken is that the crime was committed against the Federal Department, and that the State had no jurisdiction, Mr Justice Stephen held that the State Court had no jurisdiction. Justice* Queen and Simpson, on tV>e other hand, held that the State law appertaining to Federal territory remained in force till specially superseded by Federal enactments. On the strength of this majority the •ecus d was sentenced to nine months' imprisonment'.
