THE GALWAY ELECTION.

LYNCH INTENDS TO CLAIM HIS SEAT. FEB PRESS ASSOCIATION. Beceived 24, 5.20 p.m London, November 23. Colonel Lynch, interviewed in Paris, declared he was a Home Ruler, but not a revolutionist. He intends to claim his seat.

Mr Arthur Lynch is an author and journalis*, and was born near Ballarat, Victoria, in 1861. He was educated at BUlarat, Melbourne University, Bvlio University and Paris. After teaching mathematics and lecturing on engineering, he went to Berlin, and from there repaired to Ireland, and contested the Gal way sea's at a previous election. He then entered journalism, and travelled r good deal, acting as wir correspondent in the Ashanti campaign. When the Boer war broke out he took the field as colonel of the Irish Brigade No. 2 in the Boer service. He subsequently made his way to Europe, and, fearing arrest if he linrfed in Ireland, conducted his election campaign from Paris. The reason for the Galway sea' being vacant has not been cabled, nor has it been stited in which of the five constituencies in Cbunty Galway the station wa-, though it is probable that Galway City is m«ant. At the elections in 1900 Hon. Martin Morris (0.) was returned for this seat.
