An afempt to open the safe proved ineffectual. The burglars were disturbed t.y a man returning home from work at the telegraph offic j , who noticed a light thiough the front window. He informed the police, who wt-ro quickly on the scene. The intruders decamped. One of them jumped seve-al higb fences and got. out into Albert-street, nod made good his escape. The police kept watch for a second m-in, but no other came from the building. Sergeant Walker found a hat and pair of boots on Row's piemises. Liter in the day the po'ic" proceeded to the premises of next door, and observed a young-man named B»U—nn assistant—wearing a pair of bo its much too large for him. A detective took him to the police office in high-Btrettt, where the ha'.and boots were produced. In consequence of information received the officers proceeded to Mr Fagan's and placed young Fagtn under arrest. The. two young m«D were charged in Vie Police Court, and remanded uniJl Friday next.
