INGLEWOOD SAVAGE CLUB.
FIRST ANNUAL DINNER. The first annual dinner and reunion of the Inglewood Savage Club was held in the Railway Hotel on Thursday evening. There was an excellent attendance, the chair being occupied by Mr G. O. Biteman, jun., and the vicechair by Mr J. McNitl Adams.
The spread was provided by Mr Grylls, landlord of the hotel, was said by competent judges to be the best appointed table "evsv seen in Inglewood. After ample justice had been done to the good things provided, the tables were cleared and the following programme of toasts, etc., was gone through with great, eclat : —"TheKing," proposed by the Chairman and honoured right loyally. " The Army and Navy," i proposed by the vice-chairman and ie- | spondee! to by Messrs W. E. Peicival and H. Evans. "The Dairy Industry," ] proposed by Mr G. W. Bennett and j responded to by Messrs C. Leech and W. E. Percival. « Local Industries," pro posed by Mr G. C. Bateman and iesponded to by Mr Leech. " Our B .y* at the Front," proposed by Mr J. Tuok ami responded to by Mr Winfield. "IV Inglewood Savage Club," prcpo e 1 by Mr T. E. Hamerton and replied to by tbe Chain man and Mr H. Coldweil. "The ISew Zealand Farmers' Union," proposed by Mr Olseu, nni responded to by Messrs C. leech and J. Tack. " The L»dies," propos dhv Mr F. Spurdle and rtspondfd to b"v Messrs A. Coldweil and A Vinc-nt "The Press," proposed by Mr W. Percival and replied to by Messrs Raramerton, Bennett, and Tuck, and " Ou Host," proposed by the Chairman nn< responded to by Mr J, Adams or. behalf of Mr Grylls. During the evening the proc erfings were enlivai e I by songs by Messrs G. Taylor, It. Jo- n-ton, A. Coldweil, J. Tuck, G. Foster acd a muscil item by ih'a Inglewood S.tv-ge Club Orches'ra. Ain *■ enjoyable time was spent, t.iespe-ch o f the evening being made by Mr Ham erion in proposing the toast, of "Tim Savage Club," and whwn responding on behalf of "The Pres," he also made u moet favourable impression. He took occasion to exprtss hi* thanks for the kind reception he had received in Inglewood, where "his lints were cist in pleasant places," and expressed hit intention of promoting the best interests of the district in every possibl i way,
