INGLEWOOD NEWS.

(FilOM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT)

'An address was given by Mr Ell, member for Ohristchurch Oity, in tbe Parish Hall, at logtawood, last Tuesday evening. There was a large attendance (f the public, over 100 beiDg present. The chair was taken by Mr 0. Leech, Messrs H. Brown and B. H. Nicholl were also on the stage. . Mr Ell spoke for an hour and a half on the subject of State banking; but as hia address was much the same as in New Plymouth, which was reported in Thursday's issue of the News, I have no need to give any particulars. A rather lively discussion ensued At the close of the address. A resolution to form a branch of tbe Stata Ourrenoy League in Inglewood was carried, and tbe meeting terminated.

The visit of Mr Ell was the outcome of the subject being debated at various branches of tbe N.Z.F.U. around this district which shows that the Union is taking a lively interest in all subjects of interest to the f irmers. But to go ona better, I would suggest that they invite some orator who upholds private banking to come and address them, and so, when they have heard both sides of the question, they will be better able to come to a right decision on the matter. Our local dairy factory, which is always alive to the latest improved methods of the trad?, is getting an improved cream van, bu : lt to carry thel cream from its Kaimata creamery to' the factory. The van, which is being built by Mr F. O. Bennett, is to be J 10J feet long, 4 feet wide, and the covering 4| feet high, American patent mail axles, and four grasshopper springs, with a platform turntable. The covering is formed of narrow tongued and grooved red pine, overlaid with hair felt, with an outside covering of rubberoid A jamb door at the back makes the inside perfectly air-tight. The covering is to be painted white, and the under-carriage red, relieved with black. The cost will be about £65, and when finished it will be the first insulated cream van used in the color y.
