OBSTRUCTION OF FOOTPATHS.
TO THE BDITOK. Sir, —As there has been something said in the Council on this head, I take this opportunity to point out a case or I two. I have a very stroDg opinion I that the Council ought not to allow doora and gatts to be made to open out | on tbe footpaths. There is a case of this fort in Gill s 1 ree', and I consider it very improper on tbe part of the owner, as it is likely to be often an obstruc'ion, as wtll as a danger. There is also a shopkeeper in Devon street who his often two pair of step-ladders sprawling across the footpith for hours together, however busy tbe street may be. This has gone on for a good miny yens Some people are very incoa-i-iderate in this respect, and as nobody likps to complain, the thing goes on for ever. lam not in favour of this kind of defaulters being prosecuted; but I think tbey ought to be apprised of it, and if they will not amend their ways they should ba reported.—l am, etc., A Citizen.
