PER PRESS ASVtaATIOS, CHEiSTOHnaofi, November 8. The weather ma gloriously doe for the people's day at the Canterbury A. lu d P. Association's Metropolitan Show, and before noon the attendance promised to be as large as on the previous occasions. It is a long time sine* such a large cowd came so early to tb# grounds. The exhibits of marbinsrj, implements, (-beep, cattle aod home «il claimed a large amount of public attention, whilßt a large number of sidf shows were well patronised. Much Interest was alco manifested in the judging of light horses, aid «ho in hows, generally, which this year an considered to be unequtlled by any previous exhibition. In oonneetion with the ehow the Oani*er6unr Horticultural Society held a flower show, and though the ttfttfS were not numerous, the display wee very good. Counters Ranfurly to visit the grounds this afrerooon, but His Excellercy the Governor i» unable to be presents A parade of e'ock took plaee, and a fine show waa made Jot the prize animals. Tht, blo.sd horse classes were piotto jfl'lcd, and Mr J. H. Reid's Sane ILari©. waa winner in the section for <r.tir» horse, Mr P. Busck's Goodbye Sseond. and Mr A. H. J. Pick's third. These were (ha only eatireei shown. Mr John Sift knell's Ruby vatfirst in mires. Trotters were » m<mgre> show, Mr Walter T. 01iff*u Hazeldean being the only entire (first prize), and the same exhibitor fecoo<i in mai fS to ooe sbo«u by Mr Patrick Ca upbeß. Mr W. Kernoban's Bell Bird w»s fine in hunter entires up to 14 s'one and over. Mr El worthy's G«y Lad was s-cond. In hunteis, 11 stone and ov.r, Mr Elworthy'n Kowl.vk was first, and Mr Uipidham's Glenogie secjnd, the same horse being in the same order in the olass fo- beet' jumpers. Mr E. J. McClelUnd'e Pnrce Victor was fir*t in hacVify entires, Mr W. Mather first in mki eg, and Mr Sidney protnioent in the remainder ">f the hackney section, witli Mr Bfworthv ill lotdster closes T a Maleern R fles won thu Lloy.l.
