ASSOCIATION OF OLD SOLDIERS DESCENDANTS.
There vns a fair attendance at the mee i; ■« of descendants of old soldiers in ih i > o vn Hall on Wednesday night, Mr S. Hill occupying the chair. He stated what had been done in the way of entertaining old soldiors who attended the unveiling cerennny at St. Mary's on Sunday. Referring to the proposed association of descendants the Chairman said be had intarviewed Sir Hec'.or MacDanaldj who had kindly consented to act as patron of the association. The matter was exciting considerable interest throughout the district, and several gentlemen in the S ratford district had signified a dejire to become members of the association and submitted names of others wkr were also desirous of joining. After a general discussion it was ' resolved that all present be a committee to collect names of those willing to join the association. Messrs T. Walsh and Hemingway (Stafford) and J. Hall (Toko) we're also elected to the committee, who will report to a general meeting on Saturday, 16th inst., at 2.30 p.m. Mr J. Smith was'appointed secretary pro tern, to deal with correspondence, ' etc., relating to the as?cciatioa. The meeting then adjourned.
