It is proposed on the arrival of the train that General Mac Donald shall be received by the Mayor, and invited to partake of refreshment at the Commonwealth Hotel, and an opportunity given fur any who wish to pay their respjcti to him. Tue Highland Rifles and Pipe Band escorted him through the street* to Cook's Gardens, where addresses of welcome were delivered by the Mayor (Mr. H&trick) and Mr. R. 0. Bruce (president of the Caledonian Society). The Ganer.il cben inspected thoCadeti, and was afterwards driven to the Hospital and Girls College. In the evening be inspected the Highland Rifles, after which be was entertained by the Caledonian Society, and presented with a silver-mounted greenstone piperknife and weight, aod gold-mounted greenstone watch pendant. Mr. Duncan Urquhart, a local resident, presented him with a natoh pendant.
