"OUR VETERANS"

ENTERTAINED AT LUNCHEON. After the unveiling ceremonies at St. Mary's on Sunday afternoon, the Veterans were entertained at a quiet I luncheon at the Commonwealth Hotel, I when about BO old soldiers and mem- | bers of the volunteer and militia forces were present. Lieutenant-Colonel Ellis occupied the chair. An excellent light repast was provided, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed himself. Before dispersiog, Cojonel EJlis moved, and Captaiu Mace seconded, Th-it a deputation consisting of Captains Standish, Webster, and the mover wait upon Archdeacon Walsh and Mr W. H. Skinner, and thank them, on behalf of the Imperial ai»i Colonial Forces, for the time and trouble taken by them in producing the hatchments in St. Mary's Church. This was carried unanimously. Mr S. Hill also referred to the proposed Veterans' Association, and said that a meeting -would be held on Wednfsday, when a suggestion would he considered to hold an annual reunion on December 2nd, that being tha Queen's Birthday, and bgjgg in koeping with the fact that the Veterans were all Queen's soldiers. o,n the' motion of Mr Pennington, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to Messrs S. Hill, C. Lepper, and J. 0. Smith (the committee appointed to entertain the Veterans) for the entertainment provided. Mrs O'Driscoll is deserving of a word of praise for the capital table, considering the short notioe she received for its p< epilation.
